Inspiring creativity in rural mississippi
For more than a decade, The Gloster Arts Project has been a vibrant force in Gloster, Mississippi—bringing professional artists from across the country to work with children in Gloster, Brookhaven, Centreville, and Woodville. We offer free arts education led by musicians, dancers, visual artists, poets, authors, storytellers, playwrights, actors, and singers who guide young people through hands-on workshops in a wide range of creative activities.
Our workshops are grounded in the Values Code—a set of guiding principles that promote self-respect, respect for others, cooperation, active listening, and a love of learning. These values underpin all of our arts activities, helping young people grow not only as creative thinkers, but also as compassionate, responsible individuals.
Our mission is to help students discover their unique voices while building essential life skills through the arts. Many of our campers have graduated from high school, gone on to college, and returned to support the next generation as interns and teaching aides. They are the next generation of community leaders.
We’re honored to do the hard work of building community using the arts as a catalyst, and we feel deeply grateful to spend each summer in rural Southwest Mississippi—doing what we love, with the people we love.
